Rising alternative artist Violet Grohl has announced her debut album Be Sweet To Me, set for release May 29 via Auroura Records and Republic Records. Alongside the announcement, Grohl has also unveiled the new single and music video for “595,” offering another glimpse into the sound and mood of the upcoming record.
Directed by Nikki Milan Houston, the “595” music video leans into the song’s playful and slightly sinister energy. Inspired by a vintage T-shirt advertising a phone sex hotline, the track blends fuzzy guitar distortion with a sly chorus that immediately sticks. Grohl delivers the hook with a mix of confidence and mischief, singing, “I’ll be your 1-900-G spot, baby / 595 I’m on the line / You won’t last,” turning the song into one of the album’s most infectious moments.
Grohl recorded her debut album Be Sweet To Me between late 2024 and early 2025 at producer Justin Raisen’s Los Angeles studio. Raisen, known for work with artists such as Kim Gordon and Charli XCX, assembled a group of musicians inspired by the loose, collaborative spirit of the legendary Wrecking Crew session players of the 1960s and 1970s. That approach helped shape a record that balances raw guitar energy with layered, cinematic production.
Musically, Grohl draws heavily from alternative rock’s late-1980s and early-1990s golden era. Artists including Pixies, Soundgarden, PJ Harvey, The Breeders, Cocteau Twins, Björk, L7, and Alice in Chains have all influenced the sonic palette of Be Sweet To Me. The result is a sound that feels both nostalgic and immediate, mixing distorted riffs with emotionally direct songwriting.

Several songs on the album explore personal memories and surreal imagery. Tracks like “THUM,” “Applefish,” and “Bug In The Cake” weave together themes of family, the supernatural, and shifting emotional states. Grohl has also cited filmmaker David Lynch as a creative influence, a reference that surfaces in the album’s dreamlike atmosphere and impressionistic storytelling.
Earlier this year, Grohl released the haunting track “What’s Heaven Without You,” written following the Altadena fires in Los Angeles. The song will appear alongside the B-side “Swallowtail” as an exclusive Record Store Day 7-inch release on April 18.
With her debut album Be Sweet To Me arriving May 29 and the new single “595” already generating buzz, Violet Grohl is quickly establishing herself as a compelling new voice in modern alternative rock. She is also scheduled to perform at Shaky Knees Festival in Atlanta on September 12.
