Chicago band Brigitte Calls Me Baby have released the new single “I Can Take the Sun Out of the Sky,” the final preview of their upcoming sophomore album Irreversible, out this Friday via ATO Records.
The track highlights a brighter, more expansive side of the band’s dramatic alt-rock sound. Driven by an infectious guitar melody and sweeping emotional energy, “I Can Take the Sun Out of the Sky” balances open-road momentum with a subtle undercurrent of melancholy. The result is a song that feels immediate and cinematic while still carrying the emotional intensity that has defined Brigitte Calls Me Baby since their emergence in Chicago’s rock scene.
Bassist Devin Wessels says the single came together quickly during the recording process. “It would be easy to overthink a song like ‘I Can Take the Sun Out of the Sky,’ but it was such a last-minute addition to the record that we weren’t afforded the opportunity,” Wessels explains. “What resulted was a song and recording that relied solely on our collective instincts and highlights a different side to our sound.”
Produced by Yves Rothman and Lawrence Rothman (Blondshell, Yves Tumor), Irreversible follows the band’s acclaimed 2024 debut The Future Is Our Way Out. The new album was recorded live at Lawrence Rothman’s home studio and captures a group transformed by constant touring and growing creative confidence.

Frontman Wes Leavins, who first began writing songs as a teenager in Port Arthur, Texas, brings a deeply personal voice to the band’s music. His songwriting blends romantic fatalism, dramatic storytelling, and a fascination with the emotional extremes of love, longing, and existential reflection.
Since releasing their debut album, Brigitte Calls Me Baby have spent the past two years touring extensively across the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe. The band has shared stages with artists including Morrissey, Muse, and Fontaines D.C., while also appearing on television programs such as Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Kelly Clarkson Show, and CBS.
Following the release of Irreversible, Brigitte Calls Me Baby will embark on a North American headline tour this spring, with dates scheduled in Chicago, Seattle, Vancouver, Los Angeles, Nashville, Washington D.C., New York, Boston, and more.

With “I Can Take the Sun Out of the Sky” serving as the final preview, Irreversible arrives as the band’s most ambitious and emotionally expansive record yet.
