Deer Tick have announced their new album Coin-O-Matic, set for release June 5 via ATO Records, and shared the lead single “Mary Singletary.” The Providence indie rock band also revealed a run of North American tour dates in support of the record, including shows in Brooklyn on June 9 and Los Angeles on October 9.
The Deer Tick Coin-O-Matic album draws heavily from the overlooked history of the band’s home state of Rhode Island. Across the record, singer and guitarist John McCauley, guitarist Ian O’Neil, drummer Dennis Ryan, and bassist Christopher Ryan explore stories rooted in working-class neighborhoods where everyday life often overlapped with the lingering presence of organized crime.
The album’s first single, “Mary Singletary,” introduces the project with a jangly, ramshackle energy and a narrative centered on teenage rebellion and forbidden romance. The song reflects on the cultural tension between Catholic and Protestant communities, with McCauley weaving humor and nostalgia into a story about guilt, desire, and youthful imagination. According to McCauley, the track blends memories of Catholic upbringing with exaggerated moments of Looney Tunes-style chaos.

The title Coin-O-Matic references a cigarette vending machine company that once served as the headquarters of Raymond Patriarca, a notorious mob boss who controlled one of the most powerful crime families in the United States. For Deer Tick, that strange overlap between ordinary life and organized crime mythology became a central theme throughout the album’s storytelling.
Recorded at the band’s own studio, Coin-O-Matic also marks the first self-produced Deer Tick album in the band’s more than twenty-year career. After previously working with producers like Dave Fridmann, the group chose to handle production themselves, allowing them to experiment freely while capturing the raw, four-musicians-in-a-room energy that defines their sound.
Following the album release, Deer Tick will embark on a 2026 North American tour, including stops in Chicago, Minneapolis, Seattle, San Francisco, Vancouver, and more.
