Ella Mai has released the official music video for “Might Just,” delivering one of her most cinematic visuals to date. Directed by Alfred Marroquin, the video draws inspiration from the iconic 1995 film Waiting to Exhale, reimagining its themes of heartbreak, resilience, and female empowerment through a contemporary lens.
Taken from her acclaimed third studio album, Do You Still Love Me?, “Might Just” begins with Ella Mai immersed in the routines of domestic life before subtle signs of betrayal begin to surface. As visions of infidelity blur the line between reality and imagination, the emotional tension escalates until the singer reaches a dramatic breaking point. Destroying her partner’s belongings, burning photographs, and ultimately setting the house ablaze alongside a close circle of friends, the visual transforms heartbreak into an act of liberation. The closing image of Ella quietly sitting alone after the chaos leaves a lasting emotional impact.
The tribute is strengthened by appearances from broadcaster Taylor Rooks, singer Coco Jones, and actress Ryan Destiny, who embody the supportive friendships that made Waiting to Exhale a cultural landmark. Rather than simply recreating scenes from the film, the video channels its enduring message of healing through sisterhood while giving it a distinctly modern perspective.
The release continues a major year for the Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter. Following international performances across South Africa, Australia, Japan, South Korea, and Indonesia, Ella Mai has maintained strong momentum behind Do You Still Love Me? while earning two BET Award nominations, including Female R&B/Pop Artist and Video of the Year for “100.”

Fans will soon have the opportunity to experience the new material live as Ella Mai launches the North American leg of her Do You Still Love Me? Tour. Beginning in early July, the 28-date run includes stops in Toronto, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Atlanta, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Boston, and concludes with her long-awaited debut at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on August 28.
With “Might Just,” Ella Mai demonstrates her ability to pair emotionally vulnerable songwriting with sophisticated visual storytelling. The homage to Waiting to Exhale honors a beloved classic while reinforcing the themes that continue to define her artistry: heartbreak, growth, resilience, and the strength found in community.
