Towa Bird is entering a new chapter.
Fresh off the release of her acclaimed sophomore album Gentleman, the British-Filipina singer, songwriter, and guitarist has announced a North American headline tour that will bring her rapidly expanding catalog to intimate venues across the United States and Canada this fall.
The run begins September 13 at The Independent in San Francisco before stopping in Los Angeles, Denver, Chicago, Montreal, New York City, Cambridge, Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia. Support on all dates will come from Mother Soki.
The tour arrives at a pivotal moment for Bird, whose rise over the past two years has transformed her from a viral guitar sensation into one of alternative music‘s most exciting young artists.
Produced by Patrick Wimberly (MGMT, Blood Orange), Gentleman serves as the follow-up to Bird’s 2024 debut album American Hero. While the debut established her reputation as a sharp-tongued songwriter capable of blending pop hooks with punk energy, Gentleman expands her sound considerably. Recorded between Brooklyn and Los Angeles following an intense period of touring, the album embraces bigger arrangements, more adventurous production, and a wider emotional palette without sacrificing the swagger and guitar work that first attracted fans.
The project also features a guest appearance from Bikini Kill icon Kathleen Hanna, further connecting Bird’s music to the riot grrrl tradition that has helped shape her artistic identity.
Critical response has been immediate. The New York Times recently highlighted Bird’s ability to move between pop stardom and punk credibility, while NPR Music, Stereogum, and BrooklynVegan all singled out Gentleman as one of the week’s standout releases.
The album’s lead moments have generated considerable momentum. “Dog” earned placement on Rolling Stone’s Songs You Need to Know list, while its accompanying video featured actor Katy O’Brian, known for her work in Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning and The Mandalorian.
Born to a Filipino mother and English father, Bird spent much of her childhood between Thailand, London, and Hong Kong. Her love of guitar began at age 12 after discovering classic British rock bands through her father’s record collection. By her teenage years she was already performing in local bands and building the foundation for what would become her signature style: technically impressive guitar playing paired with witty, emotionally direct songwriting.
That background has helped make Bird one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary alternative music. Her songs explore queerness, identity, relationships, and self-discovery through a lens that feels both deeply personal and universally relatable.
Her ascent accelerated dramatically over the past year. In addition to supporting Reneé Rapp across North America and Europe, Bird joined Billie Eilish as direct support on the massively successful Hit Me Hard and Soft tour, exposing her music to arenas filled with potential new fans. She also contributed “Your Girl” to the soundtrack of Netflix‘s hit romantic comedy series Nobody Wants This, further expanding her audience beyond the alternative music world.
Outside of music, Bird has emerged as a rising force in fashion. Recently named the face of luxury fashion house Miu Miu, she has appeared on the covers of Vogue Philippines, NME, Gay Times, Dork, Highsnobiety, and numerous international publications.

Yet despite the growing profile, Gentleman feels refreshingly focused on the music itself. The album captures an artist becoming increasingly comfortable with her own voice while refusing to be boxed into any single genre. Elements of alternative rock, indie pop, punk, glam, and classic guitar music collide throughout the record, creating something that feels uniquely hers.
For fans who discovered Bird through viral guitar videos, Gentleman confirms she is far more than a skilled musician. For listeners discovering her for the first time, the album serves as a compelling introduction to an artist whose career appears to be accelerating rapidly.
With a headline tour now on the horizon and one of the year’s most talked-about alternative albums already generating critical acclaim, Towa Bird’s momentum shows no signs of slowing down.
