FIGHTMASTER is stepping fully into the spotlight with the release of Tolerance, the long-awaited debut album from nonbinary musician, actor, and activist E.R. Fightmaster. Arriving after years of building momentum through acclaimed EPs, headline shows, and standout acting roles, the record establishes Fightmaster as one of indie rock‘s most compelling new voices.
The 11-track collection showcases a songwriter unafraid to explore vulnerability, self-reflection, and emotional complexity. Anchored by soaring guitars, intimate lyricism, and a raw honesty that runs throughout the album, Tolerance captures the lessons learned from heartbreak, personal growth, and the ongoing process of understanding oneself with greater compassion.
Released alongside the album is the official video for “Minotaur,” a waltzing indie-rock standout that highlights Fightmaster’s gift for balancing emotional weight with melodic accessibility. The song joins previously released tracks including the driving lead single “All Or Nothing,” the cathartic rock anthem “Quicksand,” and the Fiona Apple-inspired “Glide,” all of which helped generate anticipation for the full-length project.
While Fightmaster first entered the public consciousness through memorable performances in acclaimed television and film projects such as Grey’s Anatomy, Shrill, and Sorry Baby, music has increasingly become a central focus. Under the FIGHTMASTER moniker, E.R. Fightmaster has cultivated a devoted following through a series of releases that blend indie rock, alternative songwriting, and deeply personal storytelling.
That artistic evolution reaches a new level on Tolerance. The album feels both expansive and intimate, tackling themes of resilience, self-acceptance, identity, and emotional healing. Rather than offering easy answers, the songs embrace uncertainty and growth, reflecting the reality that personal transformation is often an ongoing process rather than a destination.
Speaking about the album’s emotional core, Fightmaster has described the project as an exercise in extending grace toward both themselves and others. The result is a collection of songs filled with empathy and self-awareness, allowing listeners to connect with experiences that feel deeply personal while remaining universally relatable.
The album was created alongside a trusted group of collaborators, including producer Riley Geare, who previously worked on the Violence and Bloodshed Baby EPs, as well as Casey Kalmensen and Gabe Goodman. Together they helped shape a record that balances thoughtful songwriting with dynamic instrumentation, giving each track its own distinct emotional identity.

From the opening moments of “Move Through” to the reflective title track and closing number “Plan of Attack,” Tolerance unfolds as a carefully constructed body of work rather than a collection of disconnected songs. Every track contributes to a larger narrative about navigating life, relationships, and self-discovery with honesty and compassion.
The release arrives during a busy touring year for Fightmaster. After supporting Lucy Dacus and completing a successful headline run, they are currently touring with Lord Huron, including a highly anticipated appearance at Colorado’s iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Additional festival appearances include Austin City Limits this October, further expanding Fightmaster’s reach within the indie and alternative music communities.
As indie rock continues to embrace artists willing to challenge expectations and tell deeply personal stories, Tolerance stands as a confident statement from an artist coming fully into their own. With emotionally resonant songwriting, compelling performances, and a clear artistic vision, FIGHTMASTER’s debut album signals the arrival of a major new voice in contemporary indie music.
