Minneapolis indie rock band Porch Light are raising the stakes with the release of their blistering new single, “Under,” out now via Mom + Pop Music. Arriving just days before the band’s first-ever performance at Lollapalooza, the track showcases a heavier, more aggressive side of the rapidly ascending five-piece while continuing the momentum they’ve built through viral success, sold-out shows, and a devoted online following.
Designed from the outset to be a live favorite, “Under” trades shimmering indie textures for crushing guitar riffs, explosive rhythms, and vocalist Jackie Uhas’ most commanding performance to date. The result is an urgent anthem that balances melodic hooks with raw intensity, offering another glimpse into Porch Light’s forthcoming debut album, due later this year.
The single follows the band’s earlier 2026 release, “Arctic,” which explored the emotional tension between commitment and longing through soaring guitars and cathartic songwriting. Together, the two tracks demonstrate the band’s growing confidence in expanding both the emotional and sonic scope of their music.
For Jackie Uhas, “Under” came together organically during a writing session at her parents’ house before evolving into something far more ferocious in the studio. The band intentionally saved her vocal recording until the final night of sessions, allowing her to deliver the song’s unrestrained screams with complete commitment. That spontaneity ultimately became one of the defining characteristics of the finished recording, giving “Under” its visceral, mosh pit-ready energy.
Porch Light’s rapid rise has been one of indie rock’s standout stories over the past two years. Formed in Minneapolis by guitarist Zac Fogarty, bassist Henry Hughes, guitarist Kyle Siemon, drummer Tony O’Keefe, and vocalist Jackie Uhas, the group quickly transformed early chemistry into a fast-growing fanbase. Jackie joined the band after the four instrumentalists discovered her singing karaoke at a local bar, a chance encounter that would become the foundation for Porch Light’s distinctive sound.
That chemistry translated online almost immediately. Their breakout single “Oxygen” generated more than 10 million views across social platforms while drawing hundreds of thousands of new listeners. The band has since amassed more than 715,000 combined followers across TikTok and Instagram, where fans have eagerly awaited new music while helping fuel sold-out headline performances throughout North America.

Their second EP, Navy Blue, further established Porch Light as one of indie rock’s fastest-rising young bands, blending emotionally vulnerable songwriting with expansive guitar-driven arrangements that feel equally suited for intimate headphones or packed concert venues.
Now the band is preparing for its biggest touring year yet. Before launching its first full North American headline tour, Porch Light will make festival appearances at Lollapalooza, Shaky Knees, and other major events while continuing to build an impressive live résumé that already includes supporting artists such as Arcy Drive, Spacey Jane, Goth Babe, and Quarters.
The headline run begins September 22 in Dallas before visiting major markets including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, Toronto, Philadelphia, Boston, and New York City. Along the way, the band will play its largest headline shows to date, including performances at Los Angeles’ iconic Troubadour and New York City’s Bowery Ballroom, further reflecting Porch Light’s rapidly growing reputation as one of indie rock’s most exciting live acts.

With “Under,” Porch Light continue to prove they are more than a viral success story. The single captures a band confidently pushing into heavier territory without sacrificing the emotionally resonant songwriting that first connected them with listeners, setting the stage for what could be a breakout year as they prepare to release their debut full-length album.
