beabadoobee has released “Switchblade,” the second single from her forthcoming fourth studio album, Pylon, arriving September 18 via Dirty Hit and Interscope Records. Following last month’s acclaimed lead single “Sun Has Set,” the new track offers another glimpse into what promises to be her most emotionally expansive and sonically adventurous record to date.
Built around the metaphor of a switchblade, the song wrestles with the blurred line between self-preservation and self-destruction. Rather than offering tidy conclusions, beabadoobee leans into uncertainty, asking whether survival means standing your ground or walking away. It’s a fitting preview of an album centered on accepting life’s unresolved questions instead of trying to answer them.
According to Beatrice Laus, Pylon embraces emotional contradiction rather than resisting it.
“Pylon is about accepting that negative feelings are going to come back, accepting the insecurity and feeling confused. It’s all a necessary part of growing and knowing yourself better. You have to go through all that shit. I have to write about it.”
That philosophy appears to shape the entire album. Described as her most wide-ranging work to date, Pylon moves through anger, loneliness, joy, depression, romance, and self-reflection without forcing those emotions into a single narrative. Instead, the record finds strength in vulnerability, continuing the deeply personal songwriting that has defined beabadoobee’s career while expanding her increasingly rock-oriented sound.
Pylon follows the enormous success of 2024’s This Is How Tomorrow Moves, which became beabadoobee’s first No. 1 album on the UK Official Albums Chart. The new record also builds on the momentum of “Sun Has Set,” whose accompanying video was directed by longtime collaborator and partner Jake Erland.
The album features 14 tracks, including “Sun Has Set,” “Switchblade,” “Write Me A Letter,” “Powerlines,” and “Satellite.”
To support the release, beabadoobee will embark on The Powerlines Tour, her largest headline run to date and her first arena tour. Beginning October 1, the North American leg includes stops at Madison Square Garden, Los Angeles’ Kia Forum, Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena, Oakland Arena, and Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena before continuing through the United Kingdom and Europe with performances at London’s O2 Arena, Paris’ Zénith, Amsterdam’s AFAS Live, and more. Wisp will support the North American dates, while Violet Grohl joins the European leg.

Born in the Philippines and raised in London, beabadoobee has become one of alternative music’s defining voices, blending indie rock, shoegaze, and bedroom pop into a style that’s unmistakably her own. Across three albums and multiple EPs, she has amassed more than 10 billion streams worldwide, earned BRIT Award and BBC Sound of nominations, and built a global audience drawn to her candid songwriting and evolving musicianship.
With “Switchblade,” beabadoobee isn’t searching for certainty. Instead, she’s finding power in the discomfort of not having all the answers, setting the stage for what could be one of alternative music’s most anticipated albums of 2026.
