Failure have announced their new album Location Lost, out April 24 via Failure Records/Arduous Records/Virgin Music Group. The Los Angeles trio — Ken Andrews, Greg Edwards, and Kelli Scott — also shared the lead single “The Air’s On Fire” and confirmed a spring 2026 North American tour beginning April 21 in Los Angeles.
Failure Location Lost marks the band’s seventh studio album and their fourth full-length since reuniting in 2014 after a 17-year hiatus. Failure Location Lost follows 2021’s Wild Type Droid and continues the forward-facing evolution that began with 2015’s The Heart Is a Monster. Rather than revisiting past formulas, Failure Location Lost expands their sonic architecture with nine new tracks that push beyond precedent.
Failure “The Air’s On Fire” Confronts Personal Trauma
Failure’s “The Air’s On Fire” stands among the most personal releases in the band’s catalog. Written after Ken Andrews suffered a serious back injury requiring surgery, the track captures the disorientation and fear of waking from a traumatic medical episode. Dense atmospherics and a crushing low end mirror that instability. Failure “The Air’s On Fire” directly references Andrews’ struggle to breathe during recovery, anchoring the album in lived experience.

Elsewhere on Failure Location Lost, the band stretches further. “The Rising Skyline” features Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams, marking a notable Failure Hayley Williams collaboration that bridges generations of alternative rock listeners. Tracks like “Crash Test Delayed,” “Halo and Grain,” and “Solid State” highlight the trio’s signature interplay, while “Moonlight Understands” leans into textural minimalism.
Failure 2026 North American Tour
Failure will debut material from Location Lost on their 2026 North American tour, beginning April 21 at Zebulon in Los Angeles and concluding May 20 in Toronto. Festival appearances include Sick New World in Las Vegas and Welcome to Rockville in Daytona Beach. Tickets go on sale February 20 at 10 a.m. local time.

Since the release of their influential 1996 album Fantastic Planet, Failure have maintained a singular presence in alternative rock. Failure Location Lost out April 24 reinforces that trajectory, positioning the band firmly in the present rather than the past.
