Seether returned with Beneath The Surface, a new digital EP that expanded on the band’s signature mix of post-grunge grit and alternative metal intensity. The release paired previously unreleased studio material with live recordings, offering a more complete snapshot of both their writing process and onstage presence.
At the center of the EP was lead single “Into The Ground,” a track that leaned into the band’s familiar tension between brooding atmosphere and explosive release. Alongside it, “Proud Daddy” added another layer to the studio side of the project, pulling from recent sessions that frontman Shaun Morgan and bassist Dale Stewart had hinted at in the lead-up to the release.
The second half of Beneath The Surface shifted into live territory, featuring recordings captured at SiriusXM Octane. Tracks like “Lost All Control” and “Judas Mind” highlighted the band’s raw, unfiltered performance style, something that has remained a defining part of their appeal since their early 2000s breakout.
More than two decades into their career, Seether continued to operate with a clear sense of identity. Formed in Pretoria, South Africa, the band built a global following through a run of gold and platinum releases and consistent rock radio dominance, including multiple No. 1 hits. That legacy carried into this release, which didn’t attempt to reinvent their sound as much as reinforce it.

The EP arrived alongside the announcement of a major fall tour with Staind, Hoobastank, and Hinder, positioning Beneath The Surface as both a bridge between releases and a reminder of the band’s staying power on the road. With a catalog built on emotional directness and heavy melodic structure, Seether remained firmly rooted in the space they helped define.
