Lykke Li and The Magician have reunited for the official remix of “Lucky Again,” reviving one of electronic music‘s most celebrated creative partnerships more than a decade after “I Follow Rivers (The Magician Remix)” became a global phenomenon with more than one billion streams.
Available now, “Lucky Again (The Magician Remix)” transforms one of the emotional centerpieces of Lykke Li’s latest album, The Afterparty, into a shimmering melodic house anthem. The remix layers warm piano, euphoric synths, and The Magician’s signature club production beneath Lykke Li’s unmistakable vocals, creating a dancefloor-ready reinterpretation without losing the vulnerability that made the original song resonate.
The release also launches a summer-long remix campaign celebrating The Afterparty. New versions of songs from the album will arrive throughout the season from an eclectic lineup of electronic artists including Horse Meat Disco, Only Fire, Rebecca & Fiona, Killen, Mura Masa, and additional remixes by The Magician, introducing Lykke Li’s latest work to new audiences across the electronic music landscape.
The reunion carries added significance given the lasting cultural impact of “I Follow Rivers (The Magician Remix).” The 2011 remix became one of the defining crossover dance records of the decade, topping international charts and surpassing one billion streams. Interest in the song surged again after Drake interpolated it on “Janice STFU,” earning Lykke Li her first Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 as a credited songwriter while introducing her catalog to a new generation of listeners.
For Lykke Li, the remix campaign arrives during another creatively ambitious period. The Afterparty has drawn praise for its intimate songwriting, cinematic production, and emotional honesty, reinforcing her reputation as one of alternative pop’s most influential and distinctive artists. The new remixes extend the album’s life while highlighting the versatility of songs built around heartbreak, resilience, and transformation.
The Magician continues to bridge indie music and electronic culture with equal ease. Since launching his solo career after co-founding Aeroplane, the Belgian producer has become known for emotionally rich melodic house productions, the influential Magic Tape mix series, and performances at major festivals including Coachella, Tomorrowland, and Printworks London. His recent work includes collaborations with Purple Disco Machine, A-Trak, Inner City, and a growing slate of new releases planned throughout 2026.

The remix rollout continues with “Lucky Again (Horse Meat Disco Remix)” on July 10, followed by “Happy Now (Only Fire Remix)” on July 17, “Lucky Again (Rebecca & Fiona Remix)” on July 31, “Future Fear (Killen Remix)” on August 14, and “Knife In The Heart (The Magician Remix)” on August 28.
Lykke Li is also continuing her international touring schedule with festival appearances across Europe, including Roskilde Festival, Flow Festival, Way Out West, Rock en Seine, and Superbloom, before joining Robyn in Mexico City and performing at Austin City Limits later this year.
