Canadian indie rock veterans Metric have released their new single “Time Is A Bomb,” the latest preview of their upcoming album Romanticize The Dive, arriving April 24 via Thirty Tigers.
The song, a hard-driving anthem about living urgently in the face of time slipping away, pairs sharp guitars with the unmistakable vocals of Emily Haines. Lyrically, “Time Is A Bomb” explores the tension between embracing life’s fleeting moments and confronting the inevitability of mortality, with Haines singing: “Time is a bomb that’s ticking faster / I love to flirt with disaster.”
Haines described the track as a reflection on the modern obsession with self-preservation and the desire to push against it. “The powerless feeling of wanting to hold on and make time stop while simultaneously doing everything you can to max out your fleeting vitality — this song expresses that inner tension,” she said.
Romanticize The Dive Album Details
“Time Is A Bomb” arrives ahead of Metric’s tenth studio album, Romanticize The Dive. For the record, the band returned to New York City, where they first formed during the early-2000s indie rock boom. Recording took place at the legendary Electric Lady Studios, where the group reunited with longtime collaborator Gavin Brown, who previously produced the band’s acclaimed albums Fantasies and Synthetica.
The new album revisits the energy and chaos of the era that launched Metric while placing those influences in a contemporary context. Longtime members Emily Haines, Jimmy Shaw, Joshua Winstead, and Joules Scott-Key once again reunite as the band approaches its third decade together.
Metric 2026 Tour Dates

Alongside the album announcement, Metric have revealed the All The Feelings North American Tour, featuring fellow Canadian indie icons Broken Social Scene and Stars. The tour begins June 8 in Austin, Texas and runs through August 7, closing with a hometown performance in Toronto.
Notable stops include the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, Brooklyn Paramount in New York, and Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. The band will also play San Francisco’s The Masonic on June 21.
With Romanticize The Dive arriving this spring and a major North American tour ahead, Metric continue to expand their legacy as one of indie rock’s most enduring and influential bands.
